When it comes to your wedding photographers, we are strong supporters of two shooters. We aren’t just saying that because we are a two wedding photographer team ourselves! Hear us out. We have many years of experience, not only photographing weddings but being in the wedding industry and getting to know many many people over the years, it’s something that is up to personal preference but definitely has many pros associated with it.
Of course there are many factors to consider! A single wedding photographer can do wondrous things and we applaud many of our fellow photographers for their incredible work. But here are a few things to consider:
Your primary photographer works in tandem with that second shooter, just at different angles, paying attention to certain details, being the head and hands of your primary photographer and being able to split up your team.
5 Reasons to Consider a Second Wedding Photographer
1. Getting ready
Both the Bride and Groom will have their moments before the wedding captured. Many times it’s the Bride’s prewedding routine that is the main focus, but we especially love seeing what those nervous grooms look like too! We can say that we have yet to be at a wedding where the Bride and Groom are getting ready in the same room, so this allows us to be in two places at once.
2. Ceremony
During your actual wedding there are many things you would like to remember. The main focus of course is the bride and groom, who can be captured at various angles. But you can’t forget the emotion that comes with a ceremony. While one shooter concentrates on the couple, the other can capture the sweetest emotions on the faces of family and friends. When the bride is walking down the aisle, we get to see her excitement but we also get to see the pure emotion as the Groom sees his bride (often for the first time).
3. Time saving
Wedding formals are lovely to look back on, but depending on the size of the family, having a second person to direct, to position and to continue the procession cuts the formal shots down! This also applies to bridal parties, keeping everyone focused and organized is essential!
4. Reception
So much is happening, your guests are in a buzz, smiles, laughter, eating, dancing and all the merriment can be photographed more extensively! Here having two lenses clicking away can only be a good thing.
5. Enhancing shots
We are know for our cinematic style shots, we love to incorporate at least a few in all of our shoots, something that would not be possible without a helping hand. When it comes to veils gently billowing in the wind, well that is usually thanks to your second shooter! You expand the possibilities of types of shots that can be created. Any special gear, like lighting, can be carried, arranged and held by the number two!
Of course depending on the size of your wedding, the amount of guests and the location, a single photographer can do an absolutely amazing job. For us personally, we are the strongest when working together, and couldn’t be happier with the years of experience that allows our duo to forever help you remember one of the most special days of your life with ease. Two wedding photographers makes all the difference!
